How To Send Data To AWS IoT Using MQTT and Node-Red
Have you ever wondered what platform to use for building your IIoT solution?
You’re not alone.
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of IoT platforms you could use which means it can be challenging to choose for a lot of people.
I’ve built a fair share of IIoT concepts on major platforms such as AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. This has led me to realise that IoT cloud platforms are becoming more of a commodity.
They all have the same component structure, if not exact replicas of each other. At least as far as IoT is concerned. So you could literally pick one and go.
However, what really requires your attention is understanding how you can be able to get the data out of your plant equipment. Because this is almost unique for everyone. There are few plants that have the same pieces of equipment, in the same configuration and serving the same purpose.
While there are unlimited ways to do it, In the video below I demonstrate how to collect data from an industrial devices and send it to AWS IoT Using MQTT.

I’m using Schneider Electric ‘s IIoT Core Box as a gateway that provides an interface between the plant device and Amazon AWS IoT Cloud Platform. The IIoT Gateway sends the data to the cloud by hosting an MQTT client on Node-Red that publishes the data to AWS MQTT broker.

THE HALF LIFE OF A LEARNED SKILL USED TO BE 30 YEARS. TODAY IT'S 5.
And it will continue to decrease exponentially. The only way to avoid becoming irrelevant is to get in the habit of reinventing yourself every single day.
