How to Store and Analyse Telemetry Data Using Azure Time Series Insights
There are two kinds of data storage when it comes to IIoT. One is “Cold Storage”, where data is collected into a storage system with the intention to perform analysis on it someday.
And then there is “Hot Storage”, whereby it is crucial for the data to be stored and made available in real-time so as to empower process engineers to make decisions by the minute.
Typically, this is multiple streams of data in which more meaningful insights can only be derived by measuring it over time and then looking at the behavioural change across all sensors in order to find correlations, patterns and see how an asset or process changes over time.
So, with that said, a hot storage platform must scale flexibly as messages sent every second can quickly get to millions. And it must have integrated analytics and visualisation tools to allow you to easily dig into the data and present it in a compelling manner.
